Dear Ghoulfriend,
My best friend's boyfriend told her he wants to take a break. He doesn't think he'll have time for her and he is gonna be going to Florida in a week. Plus he just turned 18. Do you think it means he is breaking up with her?

Dear M. J.,
Tell your best friend that she really must stop dating invertebrates and find someone of her own species. Relationships with jellyfish rarely work out (unless you happen to be one yourself).
I don't know that much about humans, but I do know something about evasive tactics and it sounds to me as though he simply lacks the cojones to admit that he wishes to extricate himself from the constraints of this particular relationship. He is behaving in a spineless manner in order to avoid confrontation (completely consistent with behavior of his species, mind you, so you really can't find fault with him). Please tell your friend not to wait by the phone for his calls; they won't come. She must get on with her life and try to develop an interest in human men.
