My gerbil refuses to play on his habitrail. What can I do to make him want to use it? He's getting fat and he really needs the exercise.

You probably didn't get the correct habitrail for your gerbil's height to weight ratio. It's vitally important that gerbils use the proper habitrail or they can develop bunions and bone spurs. Your gerbil knows this and would rather risk taking on the extra weight and the humiliation that brings (particularly now that swim suit season is upon us) than endure painful corrective surgeries and months of rehab in an outpatient facility. Try to be a little more sensitive to your gerbil's needs in the future. A trip to a proper pet store will put you both on the right "track". *wink*
